VHS Grad Turned Bikini Bodybuilder

Everyone now and then wonders about what our VHS graduates are doing. Most of them, we assume, are attending college at the popular VHS-choice schools such as Scranton, Syracuse, or Penn State.

But one 2014 VHS graduate, although she is attending college – William Paterson University as an art major – is also pursuing something quite unique.  Corinne Sullivan is currently training to participate in a bikini bodybuilder competition.

Corinne works out five days a week. For three of these five days, she works out her legs. Some of her weekly leg workouts include superset front squats, hip abductors, and back squats sumo stance.

Corinne eats six meals a day that are two and a half hours apart. Being a vegetarian since eighth grade, Corinne has always eaten a relatively healthy diet, however in the past few months she has eaten extremely healthy, allowing herself no cheat days since January 10, and sticking to a daily diet of egg whites, oatmeal, and Greek yogurt for breakfast, a protein shake and trail mix for a snack, and three meals consisting of a cup of veggies and 4 ounces of protein.

“I decided to become a bikini competitor to motivate myself to get the body that I have always wanted and I thought that it would be fun,” says Corinne.

Corinne is now thirty pounds lighter than her heaviest weight and is the leanest that she has ever been but she says that she “feels healthier and much more confident”.

The competition that Corinne is competing in is through NPC, the National Physique Committee. In order to be able to compete you first have to sign up to be an NPC member and then fill out a form, as well as pay a fee. Once you have done this you pick the shows that you want to participate in and apply for them online. Corinne’s first show is April 4th at a hotel in Teaneck, New Jersey.

The first round of the competition is pre-judging and then goes to finals. The prizes consist of either a medal or trophy but only those in the top five of their classes, which depend on height, are rewarded.
