Swimsuit Weather is around the corner

After a long cold winter, bathing suit season is finally around the corner, which means diets, gym memberships and tans. Some students at VHS have certain strategies and tips to help get into their best “summer body”.

Senior Kelly Carr, says a combination of her lacrosse season and going to Hardbodyz Fitness helps her to focus on certain muscles to make stronger and more toned. “I defiantly start cutting back on the amount of junk food this time of year and start eating more fruit,” says Kelly.

Senior Mike DeSomma also agrees that having a healthy diet is vital. He admits that his usual workout is the same throughout the year, but in preparation for the summer he tries to watch what he eats more.

Luke Connell says he goes to the gym everyday to stay in shape despite also having baseball practice after school. One tip from Luke is to reduce your bread intake, for it can make a huge difference.

“I have decided to do a ten day smoothie cleanse which consists of various fruits and vegetables and I have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner,” says senior Gabrielle Ayala. She too goes to the gym often and uses a very helpful iPhone application, Nike Training Club, which provides hundreds of workouts that isolate certain muscles and directions on how to do them correctly.
Despite the workouts and diets, senior Paul Chanley is looking to get a noticeable tan before the pictures get snapped on Memorial Day Weekend, which has be labeled as the “kick off of the summer”.

Some more tips that can be followed are, to do just a simple abdomen workout everyday for it makes a noticeable difference, also take advantage of the warm weather by taking a jog outside or even by playing some basketball on the court behind HBW. The are numerous local gyms, but four of the most popular are, Hardbodyz Fitness, Platinum Fitness, Retro Fitness and New York Sports Club. All these techniques and tips will not only help you look in shape but to live a healthy lifestyle.
