Starting a New Tradition

“We are trying to make a new tradition for our school, and we want students to have more fun at our high school,” said senior Student Council president Austin Camp who, with along with Senior Class President Kelsey McKeen,, has organized a field day for the end of the year. These two students came up with the idea of having a last hoorah before we graduate; they hope that on June 12, a new tradition will be started for Verona High School.

They’ve come up with some fun and competitive activities. Their plan is to have two “Rounds.” In Round One there will be three-leg racing, ultimate frisbee, keep-it up, water- balloon toss, and cornhole. In between round one and round two there is an ice cream truck, where you enjoy some ice cream with your friends. In round two, there will be kickball, soccer penalty kick, relay race, tug of war, and an obstacle course that includes such obstacles as a wheelbarrow race and an egg carry.

Remember the days when we were students in elementary and middle school, hanging out with our friends and having friendly competition? This field day will be a remembrance of when we were younger and all the fun times we had during field day. This is the last chance for  seniors who are graduating to experience fun times with their high school friends and their chances to make memories they won’t forget..

Kelsey says, “It’s going to be a lot of fun and a great way to end the year.”
