Wild Wellmont Performance By Who?!

He has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. His music career began in 1992 when he was discovered by Dr. Dre. His debut album Doggystyle was number 1 on both the Billboard 200 and R&B charts in 1993.  He has appeared in multiple films and television shows including Starsky & Hutch and Weeds. The release of his 11th studio album titled Doggumentary is highly anticipated. Whether you refer to him as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop Dogg, or Snoop Lion, everyone is sure to be familiar with this renowned hip-hop icon.

One might have been surprised to discover that this notorious rapper would appear in the small urban town of Montclair, New Jersey at, to locals, the legendary Wellmont Theatre on Thursday, September 27.

Tickets to the show were an affordable 40 dollars and were available to purchase both online and at the door the night of. The Wellmont provided bar services for all over 21 years of age in the audience, and police security was present for the entirety of the show.

The amount of people in the audience tripled as the night went on, all awaiting the infamous artist’s entrance. Hundreds of young adults danced and mingled while a DJ played popular hip-hop songs to kill time. When he appeared fashionably late around 10 p.m. after his estimated 8 p.m. arrival, the crowd went wild to see Snoop emerge onstage alongside a man in a big furry dog costume.

“I didn’t expect the show to be as good as it was…Snoop is definitely making a comeback,” commented longtime fan Ricky Camejo. Being a part of the very enthusiastic crowd, Ricky adds, “The night was wild. Everyone seemed to be having a really great time.”

“It was crazy! I would definitely go see him again. I was surprised he performed at the Wellmont. Its not the biggest place, but I thought that made it more personal and fun,” observed Verona High School Senior Joanna Grillias after the show.

Snoop appeared very lively and kept the crowd interested all night. His performance included personal hits “Platinum,” “Sumthin Like This Night,” “This Weed Iz Mine,” “Eyez Closed’’ and “Boom.” He also performed some of his most famous collaborations such as “California Girls,” “I Wanna Love You,” and one of his most popular songs, “Young, Wild, & Free,” to conclude the show. Anyone in the audience that night is sure to say the performance was unforgettable.
