Kazanfer at the Movies-Goodfellas

“Kazanfer at the Movies,” is a suggestion and recommendation about a different movie every week.

Movie: Goodfellas (1990)

Director: Martin Scorsese

Starring: Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Paul Sorvino

Running Time: 146 minutes

Plot: The movie tells us the story of the New York mob over thirty years. A small time gangster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) as well as two other small time gangsters attempt to muscle their way into the mafia. The three of them successfully plan and execute the famous Lufthansa heist. The movie focuses on the aftermath of the robbery and how Henry Hill went from the mob to witness protection.

MPAA Rating: R (strong brutal violence throughout, pervasive language, drug use and some sexual content)

Review: One of my favorite movies of all time. Martin Scorsese is one of the greatest directors in my opinion. Also the cast is spot on; Robert De Niro is a great actor. I”ve always enjoyed watching him on the big screen. I believe that Joe Pesci’s stellar performance is worth the two and half hours. Ray Liotta, who was an unknown actor when the movie came out,  had his career solidified upon the release of this movie. This movie earned 3.5 stars out of 4.

Famous Quotes: “…funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you…What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?”- Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci)

“For as long as I can remember I always wanted to be a gangster. To me that was better than being president of the United States.”-Henry Hill (Ray Liotta)
