Don’t Throw Out Your Water If Its Blk

When you think of water, what do you imagine?  Obviously you think of a clear, tasteless, quenching substance that you drink on a daily basis.  Well, unless you have heard of blk. Water, which is the opposite of clear and is known as “the dark side of water”.

Blk. Water is a new product that just recently came out and is only located in a few marketplaces. The only local foods market I could find this product at was Foodtown in Cedar Grove. It was on a display holding only this product and was sold for $1.99 a bottle.

This 16.9 ounce bottle is pure black all around. At first I thought it was just the color of the plastic bottle holding the water.  When I opened the bottle it turned out the plastic bottle was actually clear and the water was black as night.

The company who makes blk. Water is black water claims that it is actually healthier for you than your regular glass of water. You may be thinking, the water is black how could it possibly be good for you or even taste good for that matter?

Well the reason the water is black is because of fulvic acid. Fulvic acid is an acid that contains complex nutrients, elements and other substances (including chemical toxins and heavy metals). It helps the body in a very positive way.  An example of what blk. Water can be compared to is to have a regular glass of water with a plate of vegetables.

When I tried blk. Water, it tasted like a regular glass of water. I was then curious how other people felt about this strange new product.  So, I set up a half filled glass of regular fountain water, and another cup half filled with blk. Water. I then used a scarf, as a last minute blind fold, and I put blk. Water to the test.   I got a couple of volunteers to determine if they can taste the difference between the waters.

The first person who was willing to try blk. water vs. regular fountain water was senior Matt Tuorto.  After I blindfolded him I immediately switched the two different cups of water so he wouldn’t know which one was which. He grabbed the closest one towards him and took a sip. It was the regular fountain water, but I asked him how it tasted anyway. He said it tasted fine.

Then for the moment of truth he grabbed the half-filled cup of blk. Water, took a sip and his reaction was nothing special. I asked him how it tasted and he replied the same as the cup before. I then un-blindfolded him and showed him that the second cup was blk. water.

Matt said he did not taste or even smell any difference in the regular fountain water or the blk. Water.

I decided to test out the product one more time. I grabbed senior Anthony Benenati out from roaming the halls to test it out.

I repeated the same procedure with the two different cups, regular fountain water and blk. water, and blindfolded him to see which was which. The first cup he grabbed was the blk. water and he claimed it tasted like a regular glass of water. Then he felt the same with the actual regular glass of water.

I then showed him that the first cup was blk. water and he immediately exclaimed, “I would drink this on a daily basis, it’s cool”

So my overall experiment went well for this new product, blk. water. Everyone seemed to taste no difference and would drink it in general, and the fact that it is good for you is a bonus.
