Fall Fashion

As the leaves are beginning to turn, so are fashion trends.

2016 is a unique year for fall fashion. So many trends are upon us this fall, whether they be brand new and innovative, or classic throwbacks. Either way, these trends have never been so bold.

Possibly the most common trend this season is layering sweaters and various kinds of jackets. Although this may seem simple, this trend is actually one of the most stylish of them all. The trend was first prominent on the runways of New York Fashion Week, and have been integrated in everyday fashion ever since. The most common types of jackets that are being layered this autumn are bomber jackets, an old yet exuberant style for the fall. Bomber jackets have been around for a while, yet they never really made a fashion statement until this year. With their bold colors and versatility when it comes to styling, a bomber jacket is a great staple piece to have whether it be to keep one warm or to look chic. Furthermore, layering a bomber jacket on top of a sweater will ensure extra coziness and a classic yet edgy feel.

An unexpected trend for fall is the presence of velvet everything- chokers, dresses, boots, and so much more! And, if that doesn’t scream 90s, then I’m not sure what else will. Velvet typically reminds us of the winter and more exclusively, New Year’s Eve. But, Fashion Week proved that velvet clothing is ideal for any season or occasion. Today, velvet choker necklaces and tops have become a generic for girls of all ages. With their cool texture and rich colors, velvet chokers and shirts definitely spice up one’s look. Furthermore, velvet boots have been what all the “in” celebrities have been wearing, thus causing many to go out and find a pair of their own. Popular velvet boot colors tend to be darker, such as maroon, navy blue, and even hunter green. But, the velvet trend has not been excluded to dark colors, as even pinks and purples are hard to get your hands on.

Boots are a huge staple in fall fashion this year. But, if you’re bored of the generic combat and riding boots, an edgier move would be to invest in over the knee boots. These not only can be dressed up, but are also interchangeable for the winter and even early spring. Although designer pairs are typically on the pricier side, there are many “dupe” options that are sold for as low as fifty dollars.

Of course, fall also calls for the classic look- a flannel, ripped jeans, and a pair combat boots. But, if you want to elevate your style or step out of your comfort zone, definitely check out some of these trends.
