What’s Your Hidden Talent?

How well do you really know your Verona High School classmates? Every day you walk through the halls with hundreds of kids, some even your good friends, but some may have talents that they have been hiding.

Many people have heard of the infamous Verona rapper Jack Zick. His song “Too Many Times” hit 140,000 streams on Soundcloud. It was also heard at many football games, as was his his song “Ride for Me” being blasted in the student section.

Yasmin Pego and Maya Fortgang  spend their free time practicing their dancing skills. Yasmin recently started shuffle dancing. The shuffle dance, also known as the Melbourne Shuffle or simply the shuffle was developed in Melbourne, Australia in the early 1990s. Maya sticks to a more tradition form of dance and tap dances in her free time.

Have you ever tried throwing three or more balls in a circular motion using only your two hands? Well, Grady Short and Nick Giuliano believe their juggling skills exceed the rest of the senior class and both consider it a talent of theirs.

Another VHS senior has an odd talent that allow her to NOT use her hands. When her hands are full, Brooke Cooney can dislocate her shoulder blades and use them to open her lower oven. Kelly Waterman can use her toes as fingers to grasp objects.  She says this skill is very useful for her when she drops things on the ground.

Another cool talent comes from VHS junior Julia Holland. Some may struggle and get tongue tied when saying all 26 letters of alphabet quickly but, Julia is able to say the alphabet backwards in under ten seconds!!

You may not know seniors Kate Ryan and Colette Quattrocchi enjoy singing in their free time. Kate also can play guitar and can “spit bars like Eminem.”

Ever find yourself shaking a cramp out of your hand while struggling through an in-class essay?  If you were junior Brianna Camp, who can write with both her right and left hand, you could just switch hands.

Some people may find this “talent” disturbing, but senior Julia Digeronimo is able to flip her eyelid inside out and leave it for a couple seconds.

Brendan Ewin takes pride in his ability to drive a stick shift and says he knows a little German and Chinese.

Dylan Munjack has a talent that only comes in handy when out in the wilderness. Dylan can successfully make bird squeaking noises. Another talent of hers is making a four leaf clover with her tongue.

Senior Jeremy Boub has two talents, one of which you would never guess. The first is his ability to play chess, the second talent is that he has multiple cheeses memorized and if shown a picture of a cheese he is able to determine the type.

You may think because we live in a small town, you know basically everything about everyone, but you don’t.These are just some of the VHS students hidden talents but there are hundreds more. Go out and find some!
