“Dress Dreams” Dress Collection

In Verona, many girls go to prom, Sweet Sixteens, and other formal events and put their dresses in the back of their closets. They collect dust and they are never worn again. Now, these dresses can be put towards a good cause that will make a lot of high school girls very happy.

The dresses that will never be worn again could be used by girls that attend Castlewood High School in Castlewood, Virginia. Many families in this rural Appalachian town do not have the money to pay for food, let alone a prom dress. The collection is being organized by Shannon Garner and Joanna Eliasof. These girls, along with other kids from their church, went on a mission trip to West Virginia this summer. They met a high school teacher, Anita Boyd that brought this issue to their attention and they came up with this cause to help them.

“By bringing in dresses you will never wear again, you can make a huge difference in someone’s life,” commented Joanna.

There will be a rack to hang dresses in room 26 for this great cause. You can also contact Shannon or Joanna if you have any questions or if you need your dresses picked up. Dresses will be collected until February 13th. They have collected about 70 dresses so far and there are about 140 girls that they need to collect dresses for. They would love to give the girls options for designs and sizes, so please donate what you can.

“These girls in Castlewood deserve to look and feel beautiful for their high school prom. We can help!” said Shannon.
