As the school year commences with a new and improved beginning, The Spotlight Players are ready to unveil their 2015-2016 season.

After a very successful season last year, Mrs. Fran Young is eager to begin what may be her last year on the job as director at Verona High School. “I’ll miss it,” Young says, “I’ve done this for five years, and I think this play will enliven the end of my career.”

The new season of theater this year is starting off with Mrs. Young directing The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.

“I think it’s going to be hysterical,” Mrs. Young explains, “we have limited space because of the issues with the band room and the new band addition but I think we’re addressing that.” Mrs. Young also says that this play will interactive with the audience and that there will be more improv, which will be a lot of fun for viewers of the show.

The cast is made up of all grades from the high school, predominately juniors. One of them, Daniel Messineo, will be playing Prince 1 and the “Unsick cast member.”

“I believe the play will be extremely funny;” Messineo says, “There is an excellent cast with a lot of talent and we all cooperate and work well together, and it’s a lot of fun.”

In the spring of 2015, The Spotlight Players plan on introducing a new musical to the stage, The Drowsy Chaperone.

The hope was that the musical would be Cinderella, but after some problems with the copyright Mrs. Young  decided to go with option two.

Both plays will be directed by Mrs. Young.  The Drowsy Chaperone, which will also feature the musical direction of Mrs. Marsha Schreier and the choreography of Mrs. Melody Williams and will be performed on March 3, 4, and 5, 2016.

If you want laughs and amazing performances, come to Verona High School this year and support the Spotlight Players in doing what they love.
