On Friday, April 22, Verona High School Heroes & Cool Kids participated in the American Heart Association’s Annual Jump Rope for Heart event. Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraiser that combines jumping rope and the promotion of living healthy with raising money for the American Heart Association.

The Heroes spent the entire day at HBW helping with the fundraising event.  Senior members of the program Mark Riggio and Brendan Maranz led the middle school students in stretching activities prior to jumping.

Junior members Paige Nagy, Taylor Reed, Guiliana Frizzi and Caitie Kenneally turned double dutch ropes for the more advanced jumpers. Heroes also helped to keep the water stations up and running and sophomores Adrianna Fierro and Renata Primmer manned the table to ensure the jumpers stayed hydrated as the gym temperatures began to heat up.

The HBW Physical Education department should be commended for all of their hard work and efforts in running another successful Jump Rope for Heart event.  Because of their dedication and the help of the members of Heroes & Cool Kids, Verona raised over $36,000 for the American Heart Association.
