Student Profile: Robin Stock

“People say that I’m like Snooki,” admits Robin Stock, senior at Verona High School, “I guess it’s because I’m like loud and like fun but I dunno. I mean like – I don’t see it.”

A walking stereotype, Robin wouldn’t want it any other way. Robin identifies herself as a “guidette,” an Italian subculture made popular by shows like Jersey Shore and Jerseylicious. “I go down the shore to Seaside and party with friends and go to the boardwalk and the beach. I love the beach.”

Guido: tan, big hair, Italian, and a love for house music; Robin identifies with all four of these critical components. Her tan can be spotted from miles away. Her hair would certainly infuriate any rear-standing concertgoer hoping for a clear line of vision. She wears her Italian genes with pride. House music seems to be the main thing on her mind.

She was first introduced to guidoism in seventh grade. She credits her now 21 year-old sister and close friend.

Robin says she is different at school than at home. “There’s alotta fake people here.” She says that her “school-friends” would describe her as quiet and tired all the time. Out of school, she is an entirely different person. “Oh my god. My friends outta school would like say that I’m loud and funny and uhh they’d probably say I’m obnoxious.” She smiled.

Currently, Robin sells accessories at the mall and attends beauty school in addition to traditional high school. Robin aspires to own her own beauty salon one day.

“I could change peoples’ looks drastically, make them feel good about themselves.” Her fingernails are long and grow in width as they approach you. Painted? Cheetah print.

As for a future family, Robin names Pauly D as her perfect man. “He’s hilarious, hot, tan, big muscles, yeah.” That may change in the future though. “I mean I could see myself marrying like a person who flips houses and stuff one day.”

“I don’t care what people think of me,” Robin says, “Do things for yourself so you can be happy – don’t try to please other people.”

She would be happiest living in 2006-2007 forever when “guido culture was like really big.” She wouldn’t mind living in the 80s though, “They had big hair. I like big hair.”
