Softball Team Crushes Columbia

The Hillbillies softball team moved their record to 7-2  with a convincing six-inning 11- 0 victory over Columbia Thursday.

They now have sole possession of second place in their conference, trailing only Caldwell, and are ranked eighth overall in the Super Essex Conference softball rankings.

The Hillbillies scored five runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Kaitlyn Deo, an RBI double by Rebecca Russomano, an error, an RBI single by Olivia Haveron, and an RBI single by Meghan Yeates.

Russomano had three extra-base hits for Hillbillies.

Paige Ferrell shut Columbia down for all six innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven.

Haveron, Deo, Yeates and Russomano combined for 11 hits and eight RBIs.

In the first inning, The Hillbillies took a lead they would never relinquish, scoring on a groundout by Caroline Chivily.

The Hillbillies matched their two-run second inning with a two-run fifth before putting the game out of reach in their final at bat.
