One of the many new members of the VHS faculty this year is a VHS alumna herself! New Environmental Science teacher Mrs. Marjorie Haftel attended Verona High school and graduated in 2008.

A lot of the teachers we have today were also Mrs. Haftel’s teachers, such as Mr. White, Mrs. Quick, Dr. Meyer, Mrs. Pico, Mr. Wertz, Mrs. McKelvey, Mrs. Sherman, Mrs. Hemsley, Mr. Demond, Mr. McElroy, and Mr. Maher. When asked what the biggest change to VHS is since she attended, Mrs. Haftel responded that the new Learning Commons and band room are the most noticeable differences.

After graduating from VHS, Mrs. Haftel completed her undergraduate schooling at the University of Delaware, a popular choice for VHS graduates. After her fours years at the University of Delaware, Mrs. Haftel attending graduate school at Montclair State University. When asked when she knew she wanted to become a teacher, Mrs. Haftel explained that she had known since high school. Before coming to Verona High school to teach, Mrs. Haftel taught at Nutley High school.

Mrs. Haftel is a wonderful new addition to VHS, especially because she knows the true meaning behind being a Hillbilly!
