Senior Profile: Cole McConnachie

Senior Cole McConnachie is not only an A+ student, and competitive athlete, she is also a a “High School Ambassador.” Cole is usually seen around school with her welcoming personality and her genuine smile.

Cole plays a sport all school year long. She has played volleyball for all four years and her senior year she got nominated to be a captain of the volleyball team. Unfortunately, Cole got injured and wasn’t able to play for part of the season.  Despite her absence from some of the season, Cole received Honorable Mention this past fall.

During the winter of Cole’s junior year, she decided to pick up her old basketball and start playing again. Cole had previously played basketball in seventh and eighth grade but didn’t wish to continue basketball until later in high school.

In the spring, you can find Cole running down the lacrosse field as a defense player for VHS girls varsity lacrosse team. In the past, Cole has been named Academic All American for lacrosse. She starts pre-season practices on Sunday mornings during basketball season. Once basketball is over, Cole jumps right into full swing on the lacrosse team.

On top of all Cole’s after school requirements she goes home to play her role as Her Campus “High School Ambassador.” Her Campus is the largest online magazine for college women. Cole talked about her responsibilities as an ambassador and how it is her job “to bridge the gap between the high school and college audience.”

Cole is in the process of applying to colleges and that allows her to have an inside perspective on truly transitioning from high school to college. Cole is patiently awaiting her last few decision letters, which happen to be all Ivy League schools. According to Cole, if going to an Ivy League school doesn’t work out, she would “be extremely happy going to Boston College,” where she has already been accepted.

No matter where Cole ends up, she is going to be majoring in political science and minoring in communications. Cole is determined to work hard through college and pursue her dream job. Cole plans on working in political communications and becoming the White House Press Secretary. Cole believes that working for Her Campus is one of the first few steps to accomplish her dream.

Cole explained that her job at Her Campus offers a mentoring program that gives girls who want to work in the journalism, communication, or marketing field the opportunity to create a foundation for themselves by receiving weekly assignments that vary from writing articles, creating projects, blogging and much more. Cole feels that “it is such a great experience that has broadened (her) knowledge and allows (her) to network with professionals in a variety of fields.”

Cole’s busy life allows her to experience all aspects of being a young adult. It is obvious that Cole will do great things one day, and we all can’t wait to see where life takes her.
