Hallway Style: Harvard Fraser

Hallway Style: Harvard Fraser

When imagining the world of fashion, people tend to immediately think of women, despite the mix of men and women within the industry.  But men’s fashion is certainly not to be ignored – just look at VHS senior Harvard Fraser’s everyday wardrobe.

Pictured while leaving the school for senior out to lunch, Harvard’s outfit is perfect for spring days when it’s still cool in the mornings but sunny and warm by 2:40 in the afternoon. His light blue long sleeve button down coordinates extremely well with charcoal grey pants- a more neutral color combination than blue and black or dark denim.

Button downs can be considered one of Harvard’s “signature” pieces, as he loves all of the variations and combinations of outfits that can coordinate with a simple button down.

One of his favorite places to look is Jackthreads, available online and through an app, which specializes in men’s fashion and style with a wide assortment of brands to shop, including Publish, Sperry, and Obey.

Harvard explains that it is important to shop for what you are most comfortable in and flatters you best. “Everyone’s shaped differently, so I don’t ever really look for tank tops, for example, but typically I either go for a classy or indie type of look with not loud colors but soft ones,” he explains. He tends to be drawn towards browns, oranges, and blues as they best compliment his complexion, he says.

When asked why he feels that dressing well is important, he replied thoughtfully, “I just feel it looks more interesting and illuminating to see someone who looks clean and groomed, and presents nice posture… I don’t talk a lot in public unless other people start the conversation, so my outfit is my preview to my personality I suppose.”

For many including Harvard, fashion is not simply clothing, but an opportunity for expression. Next time you see him in the hallway, maybe you’ll notice his button down shirt, or maybe you’ll notice his natural smile and think about getting to know him a bit better.
