In a series emulating the unique street style photographs across the internet, newspapers, and fashion magazines, it is no wonder that the very first style feature is on senior Jillian Gesumaria.

While technically speaking, winter is gone and spring is here, black is a color that does not fade with the seasons. Black always has been, and always will be, here to stay. Jill’s black and grey long sleeve shift dress is paired with simple black booties, highlighting her mile-long legs. An intricate statement necklace contrasts the simplicity of the dress and shoes, and polishes off this look perfectly.

Jill’s interest in fashion extends beyond her day-to-day outfits. As co-founder of the Fashion Club here at VHS, fashion plays an important role in her life. Some of her favorite designers include Nanette Lepore, Elie Saab, Donna Karen, and Delpozo. Jill works at South Moon Under, a high-end boutique, in Montclair. Even when she is working, she helps customers to not only buy clothing, but to create looks and outfits, something both Jill and the customer can benefit from, whether it is experience or a new wardrobe.

She hopes to one day turn her job working in a clothing store into a career in the fashion industry. “The fashion world itself is a life in its own. It is always changing and to be a part of that is incredible. I’m so excited to experience the trends changing around me and know that I’ll help the industry in some way,” she explains.

While these days she will be walking through the halls with great style, do not be surprised if you one day see Jill’s name in bold on the cover of Vogue magazine.
