If you want a change of pace from the quick stop coffee chains and would prefer a place to sit and do work, crack open a good book, or just hang out where there is great coffee, Montlclair’s got a few great locations for you.

First on this list is Paper Plane Coffee Co., a brand new cafe that opened at 194 Claremont Avenue. This place is small, yet lively, with a simple and delicious coffee menu that offers staples such as cappuccinos and regular brewed coffee. For those who are a little more adventurous, they have a section of the menu dubbed “science”, with a small variety of specialty drinks. Not to mention, they have a retro Nintendo Entertainment System, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

If you are looking for a cafe with a huge array of food and drink on the menu, in addition to a good setting to do work or chat with friends, Red Eye Cafe is where you should head. Located at 94 Walnut Street, this little place has a crowd at every time of day. While they offer just about any drink you can think of that contains coffee, they offer ample seating to show up with a group, and a chill environment to get work done if you so choose. Red Eye is generally a good place to go, and their coffee is fantastic.

Finally, we arrive at Crazy Mocha, tucked away in a building at 491 Bloomfield Avenue, this place has a quaint ambiance that, in my opinion, proves it to be the best place to get that work you have been procrastinating on done. While having the food and fancy drinks seen at the last two shops, Crazy Mocha is more tranquil and quiet. Despite having “crazy” in its name, inside is far from it, where you will often see most patrons doing some type of work. With comfortable couches and many tables to sit at, there is plenty of room to spread out and relax, while also being productive; it’s like a study hall, but with coffee, and where people actually do work!

Whether you are looking for a place to hang out, grab some good coffee to go, or hunker down to finish homework, any of these options would be perfect for you, so definitely go check them out if you are looking for something new and interesting.
