You’re scrolling down your Instagram feed, when you come across the not-so-original best friend picture. Written underneath the picture is “Twinnies!” It isn’t so much the caption that is humorous, but the fact that the two people in the picture don’t look anything alike. To some people this picture may not even stand out at all, but to Amanda Langan this is one of her biggest pet peeves.

“It bothers me so much. Just because you’re best friends doesn’t mean you are identical,” said Amanda.

Pet peeves vary from person to person. While some people are bothered by the classic, “So where are you going to college?” question, others find it most annoying when bikers believe they are cars and travel in the road. Pet peeves can be about anything, it depends on who you ask.

Many of the students and staff at VHS found that they agreed on many of the same pet peeves. A lot of upperclassmen and teachers immediately thought of the most annoying driving techniques. Things such as turning without a blinker, pedestrians walking obnoxiously slow, or drivers with no regard for anyone else.

Whether it is people cracking their knuckles, loud talkers, obnoxious gum chewers, spelling common words incorrectly, people dressing their pets, or being put on speakerphone without any warning, the annoying habits of other people stand out to us a lot more than we realize.

Next time you are out somewhere; in your car, a restaurant, school, or even your own home, make a mental note to yourself of all the things that bother you. You’ll be extremely surprised at how easily it is to make a list of annoyances.
