iPhone Rolls Out Its New Operating System

Since the first generation iPhone was launched on June 29, 2007 Apple has paved the way for advanced cellular technology. IPhones allow people to text, call, take pictures, go on the Internet, play games and watch videos.

Apple has led the charge to find ways to put all the information they need and want at the fingertips of consumers.  As the years went by Apple thought of new ways to make the next product better and more advanced than the last. After the first Generation IPhone came the 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, and on September 20, 2013 Apple launched 5S and 5C along with a new IOS7 update that would drastically change the appearance of the IPhone’s graphics.

IOS7 allows users to always have accessibility to the control center by just sliding up the bottom of the screen, it makes multitasking between apps easier, the camera feature comes with photo effects, photos that you take can be viewed from dates that they were taken, and there is a new feature called Air Drop where you can share a photo or a video with a specific person or multiple people. There has been mixed reaction at VHS whether the update is good or bad, and if the new features are effective.

“I like the new format and how they redesigned everything,” said VHS senior Catherine Farley.  Freshmen Dana Pena says that she likes the new update because, “It’s different and works faster, it also has more features that go along with the phone.” Along with the positive feedback about the update there was also some negatives.  English teacher Stacey Smith downloaded the update and likes it but she said that it caused the sound on her phone not to work, and this started as soon as she updated to the newer version of IOS. There have also been a lot of Apple users who downloaded the update who lost all of their contacts, music, and apps once the download was finished.  English teacher Tom White said that when he first downloaded it synched his 14-year-old daughter’s phone with his so he was receiving all of his daughter’s text messages.  She was not thrilled about it.  “When I texted her that I was getting all her messages,” he says “she nearly flew across the street from a friend’s house, to correct it on his phone.”

Overall everyone seems to like the new update and Apple has come a long way since 2007.  Even though the new operating system has a few bugs and software problems that need to be fixed – Apple has already addressed, through an update, one in which users were finding a way to break through others’ passcodes – Apple continues to win over its customers with the new advanced features that knock out their competitors.
