The VHS Class of 2012 completed one of its last fundraisers this week. The fundraiser consisted of the senior class selling Gertrude Hawk Easter chocolates. Although only around 35 of the 150 students in the grade sold chocolate, they still managed to raise about two thousand dollars.
Special education teacher Elaine DeVita and science teacher RoseAnn Prendergast are the co-advisors for this senior class and have helped them fundraise and guided them through their four years of high school.
“They are a great class and one of the nicest bunch of kids we’ve had,” said Mrs. DeVita.
Over the last four years the senior class has had many successful fundraisers and events. Besides the chocolate fundraiser, the students have also had a car wash and a garage sale, raising good amounts of money. This senior class has raised around six thousand dollars which has helped them decrease the cost of their Senior Banquet, which will be held this year at the newly built Grove on Route 23 in Cedar Grove
The last two events for this senior class are the Senior Banquet and Project Graduation. The location of Project Graduation has not yet been shared with the students but they are excited to make one last memory with one another and celebrate an amazing and successful four years at Verona High School.
